The BlackBerry Aurora Should Launch In Indonesia Tomorrow

The BlackBerry Aurora is expected to be officially launched in Indonesia today (March 9th), and it will be the latest mid-range device from the company. This comes after renders of the device were recently leaked, and the official product page on Lazada Indonesia is already live. While it hasn’t been officially launched, the device is already available for pre-order on the popular South East Asian e-commerce site. The device is available for RP 3.499.000 ($361), and is available in three colors, namely Black, Gold and Silver. However, only the Black version of the device is available at the moment. Customers will also receive free gifts if they pre-order the device now, and this consists of a JBL GO Speaker, along with a flip case.

Lazada is usually used by electronics companies in South East Asia as a platform to sell their products, as the e-commerce site is able to cater to a large audience, therefore reaching more consumers. That being said, the specs of the BlackBerry Aurora found on the Lazada product page last week are likely the official specs. Specs of the mid-range device include a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display. Under the hood, it is powered by the Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, while graphics are handled by the Adreno 308 GPU. Memory wise, it packs 4GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card. For optics, the BlackBerry Aurora sports a 13-megapixel shooter on its rear coupled with a LED flash, while selfies are handled by an 8-megapixel camera placed on the front. Keeping the lights on is a 3,000mAh battery which the product page says will last you throughout the day. The dual SIM BlackBerry Aurora will be shipping to users with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and will also come with BlackBerry’s custom UI.

It should be noted that while previous Android devices under the BlackBerry brand have been manufactured by TCL, a Chinese company, the BlackBerry Aurora is being manufactured by PT BB Merah Putih, which directly translates to PT BB Red White. PT BB Merah Putih is an Indonesian company and it is expected to manufacture more devices under the BlackBerry brand in the near future. It is unlikely that the BlackBerry Aurora will be launched in other markets, though it might find its way to neighboring markets in the future.
