Urbanears, a company that is pretty well-known for their very colorful headphones, has just entered the Wi-Fi speaker arena, and announced a couple of very capable Wi-Fi speakers. All of the Wi-Fi speakers that they announced today support Chromecast as well as AirPlay for the Apple users out there. On top of that, Spotify Connect is also supported, so Spotify users can easily stream their favorite music to these new speakers. There are two speakers, one is a bit smaller and called ‘Stammen’ and it’ll cost $350, while the larger one is called the ‘Baggen’ and will cost you $450. Both speakers will be available later this week, on March 30th.
Much like Urbanears headphones, these are also very colorful. They basically look like colorful boxes, that produce some awesome sounding audio. Urbanears has gone the minimal approach here with these two new speakers, with only adding a pair of knobs on the speakers to allow for playback control and speaker mode. Speaking of speaker mode, Urbanears allows users to connect multiple speakers together, allowing for multi-room sound. And since it is using Wi-Fi, it’s easier to set these up, as well providing some great sounding music to the user.
Since these speakers really aren’t all that special when it comes to design, they’ll fit in well with the decor of your home of office. Urbanears says that you can place one on a shelf in the living room, or perhaps inside your entertainment system and most people wouldn’t even notice that there is a speaker there, until the speaker gets turned on and starts playing some music. These are currently available in a few different colors including Goldfish Orange, Plant Green, Indigo Blue and Dirty Pink. And similar to their headphones, they’ll likely be coming out with some new colors a few times per year, to refresh their lineup a bit. But Urbanears isn’t the type of company to come out with a successor every or even two years. In fact, they are still selling the headphones they released nearly 6 years ago, and that will likely be the same thing for these new Wi-Fi-enabled speakers that they have announced here today.
