Verizon today announced a couple of new smartphones that are aimed at their prepaid customers, but are also available for those on postpaid plans. The LG K20 V comes with a full retail price of $168, while the Samsung Galaxy J7 V comes with a full retail price of $240. Of course, if you’re on the postpaid side of things, you can get these smartphones on Verizon EDGE and pay monthly for each one, but you can also take advantage of Verizon Unlimited, their new unlimited data plan.
The LG K20 V offers up a 5.3-inch HD display, with a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor inside which is clocked at 1.4GHz, and there is also 16GB of internal storage included. LG has added a micro SD card slot here which can support up to 256GB of additional storage (technically, it’s 2TB of storage, but there are currently no micro SD cards that support that much storage). There are also 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras included, along with a 2800mAh battery. Now this is a bit surprising, but that battery is actually removable. Verizon is also offering up $25 in Google Play credit or a free 32GB micro SD card if you purchase the LG K20 V.
With the Samsung Galaxy J7 V, we’re looking at a 5.5-inch HD display, powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Like the LG K20 V, the Samsung Galaxy J7 V also sports a micro SD card slot, allowing you to add even more storage to this smartphone. There’s also a larger 3300mAh battery inside, although this one is not removable. Verizon is marketing this as a “world phone” and quotes that it will work in over 220 countries. So if you are one that travels quite often – especially internationally – then this is definitely a smartphone that you should check out.
