Verizon Wireless started pushing out software updates to the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Moto Z, as revealed by the company’s support pages. The largest wireless carrier in the United States is seemingly rolling out several minor tweaks and fixes to some Wi-Fi-related bugs on Samsung’s 2016 flagship duo that Verizon recently updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. On the other hand, the Moto Z is now receiving an update bearing the software version NCLS25.86-11-4-6-8 which seems to be the standard Android Security Updated dated March 1, 2017.
Owners of the Galaxy S7 on Verizon’s network should soon receive the update labeled G930VVRU4BQA4, while the company’s subscribers with the Galaxy S7 Edge will be prompted to install the package with the software version G935VVRU4BQA4. The patches are being distributed as regular over-the-air (OTA) updates, meaning they’re rolling out in stages and it will likely take a few days before all Verizon’s subscribers throughout the country are able to download them. In addition to fixes for some Wi-Fi connectivity bugs and general issues, Verizon says that the updates also might improve the battery life of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The March Security Update for the Moto Z is just what it sounds like and is also being pushed out gradually. Staged rollouts usually take around a week to be completed, so do remain patient if you’re still waiting for the notification prompting you to download the update to your Moto Z.
In case you’d like to search for any of the aforementioned patches manually, you can do that from the Settings app on your handset. Simply navigate to the “About device” menu on the bottom of the main menu and click the top option on the next screen, then tap the “Download software updates” command and your device will do just that if any new packages are available. While the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge haven’t exactly been updated on a monthly basis on Verizon’s network since hitting the market in early 2016, the Moto Z certainly has and will likely continue receiving regular software updates in the coming months.
