Video: T-Mobile Unboxes Samsung Galaxy S8 Under Water

T-Mobile just published a video of its Senior Product Manager Desmond Smith unboxing the newly announced Galaxy S8 underwater, surrounded by sharks and some less menacing fish. Filmed in Wes Palm Beach, Florida, T-Mobile’s latest promotional video isn’t particularly concerned with offering a good look at Samsung’s latest Android flagship as much as it aims to entertain, but that isn’t a huge issue seeing how the Seoul-based company already revealed virtually every important detail about the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. Regardless, Smith, i.e. the person who subtitled the video did manage to mention some key features of the latest high-end Android phone, including its Infinity display, facial recognition capabilities, and the 12-megapixel rear camera that even recorded some footage used in the video. The third largest wireless carrier in the United States recently revealed details regarding the availability and pricing of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus on its network. The Uncarrier confirmed it’s opening pre-orders for both devices today, 9:01 p.m. PT, adding that it will start retailing the device on April 21, the same day that Samsung announced as the official launch date of its latest flagships. The smaller Galaxy S8 will be available for purchase from T-Mobile for $30 per month on the company’s Equipment Installment Plan and a $30 down payment, while those looking to purchase the Galaxy S8 Plus will be asked for $130 upfront and $30 in monthly installments for two years. This offer works out to $750 for the Galaxy S8 and $850 for the Galaxy S8 Plus, which is in line with the prices that most other wireless carriers in the country already announced. Finally, everyone who pre-orders either the Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy S8 Plus from T-Mobile will receive a complimentary Gear VR headset, the company said.

While the Uncarrier will officially start shipping Samsung’s latest flagship duo on April 21, it wouldn’t be unprecedented if some early buyers receive their smartphone even before that date. Regardless, both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to be big hits among consumers that will help Samsung bounce back from the Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
