Two new press renders allegedly depicting the upcoming Moto X (2017) have surfaced online on Sunday. The renders show a golden variant of the device with a dual camera setup and Moto’s branding on both sides of the handset. The newly leaked images depict a smartphone that’s similar but not completely identical to the one that was leaked earlier this week, as the one pictured here is lacking Moto’s “Batman” logo on its front. On the other hand, the renders that can be seen above give additional credibility to a more recent leak that showed virtually the same device in a different color.
Overall, it seems that the Moto X (2017) won’t ship with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as numerous renders and real-life images of the handset previously indicated the back panel of the phone will only feature a dual camera setup and two antenna bands. On the other hand, the front of the device seemingly sports a conventional LED flash meant to ennoble the selfie-taking capabilities of the upcoming addition to the Moto X family. According to previous reports, the Moto X (2017) will boast a 5.5-inch display and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip (SoC) and at least 3GB of RAM. The Lenovo-owned phone maker is reportedly also planning to ship a 4GB variant of the device that will feature 64GB of internal storage, while the base model is expected to offer 32GB of storage space. The dual camera setup of the device will reportedly consist of two 13-megapixel sensors, but there’s still no word on the details regarding the handset’s front camera.
While all of the previous leaks said to be depicting the Moto X (2017) indicate the phone looks like a hybrid of the Moto G5 and the Moto Z family, it likely won’t support Moto Mods that are compatible with Moto Z devices. Given what industry sources say about the hardware powering the handset, it seems like the latest member of the Moto X family won’t be a flagship smartphone. Regardless, the Moto X (2017) is expected to be officially announced in the coming months, so more details on the device are bound to follow soon.
