First images of an HP-made AndroidBook running Remix OS 7.1 have leaked online earlier this month. The real-life photographs that can be seen below are said to depict a device powered by the Rockchip RK3399 system-on-chip (SoC) and have reportedly originated from Hong Kong before being picked up by Notebook Italia. The source has now removed the images at the request of Rockchip, but not before the evidence proving the existence of HP’s upcoming AndroidBook was picked up by other media outlets and started circulating the World Wide Web.
The HP AndroidBook in question is said to feature a 12.5-inch display panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels that can apparently be rotated by 180 degrees, the report indicates. In addition to the aforementioned Rockchip-made chip, the laptop is also powered by 4GB of RAM and features 64GB of internal storage. The RK3399 itself is a hexa-core processor with four Cortex-A53 cores and two Cortex-A72 cores that also features the ARM Mali T864 graphics chip. First images of the device also indicate its keyboard will ship with a conventional backlight, while the report claims Bang & Olufsen speakers are also part of this newly leaked package. The overall design of the laptop seems reminiscent of most contemporary HP Elitebook models, though this particular computer will provide its owners with much more freedom in regards to software. In addition to Remix OS, the device should be compatible with Both Chrome OS and Phoenix OS, industry sources claim. The original report also included video evidence of the upcoming HP-made AndroidBook, but the YouTube video depicting the device has been removed in the meantime, also at the request of Rockchip.
In any case, seeing how the laptop is expected to run the Android Nougat-based Remix OS 7.1 and given its relatively modest specs, the actual price of this particular model shouldn’t be too high as HP will likely be looking to advertise the product in the mid-range segment of the market. There’s still no word on when this AndroidBook is scheduled to be officially released, but more information on the matter will likely follow later this year.
