OxygenOS Open Beta 5 & 14 Released For The OnePlus 3T & 3

For owners of the OnePlus 3 or the Oneplus 3T who are part of the OxygenOS beta program, there is a new update now available for your device. For the OnePlus 3, the update comes in the form of OxygenOS Open Beta 14, while for the OnePlus 3T, the update comes in the form of OxygenOS Open Beta 5. Both updates are now available and can be pulled directly from the OnePlus support website and applied to the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T.

While the new update comes with a different beta number for each device, the changelogs listed by OnePlus highlight that the same changes should be expected, regardless of which device you are updating. In terms of those changes, there does not seem to be much new here with most of the changes either being an improvement or an optimizations. Improvements are coming for Bluetooth, the clock widget, the dark theme, and translations. While optimizations are for GPS, the launcher, and Night Mode. Both updates will also upgrade the ‘community app’ to version 1.8.

So far, the open beta program seems to be working out how quite well for those who are taking part, as OnePlus seem to be readily making updates available. So it is a good way for those looking to run the latest version of the software, to do so. For those planning on running either of these latest versions, the file size for both updates weigh in at 1.46 GB and so they are fairly sizeable updates. It is also worth noting that these are updates that need to be sideloaded to a device manually. So interested parties will need to know how to apply an update in this way, including booting into recovery mode and so on. Although, OnePlus does provide fairly decent step by step instructions on how to apply the update. Those instructions, as well as the actual download files needed, can be found through the links below. As always, it is worth taking the necessary precautions before applying updates such as these, with the most important one being to backup any important data you have on the devices – as accidents can happen.
