Sharp has just announced their very own Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone, the Sharp Aquos R. This handset has been announced in Japan, and it is currently listed on the company’s official website. This phone is made out of metal, and it’s actually quite compact compared to some other devices in its price range. On top of all that, the Sharp Aquos R comes with an HDR display, and a ton of other goodies, read on.
The Sharp Aquos R sports a 5.3-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) IGZO display which is HDR 10 compatible. Now, the phone’s home key is placed below its display, and its power / lock, volume up and volume down keys can be found on the right-hand side of this smartphone. The Sharp Aquos R is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, as already mentioned, and a 3,160mAh battery is also included here, while it is not removable. The Sharp Aquos R packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Sharp Aquos R. A 22.6-megapixel camera (f/1.9 aperture, wide-angle lens, high-speed AF, OIS, 35mm lens), while a 16-megapixel snapper (wide-angle lens) can be found on the front side of this handset. This handset is water and dust resistant (IPX 8), and a Type-C USB port is placed on its bottom. The Sharp Aquos R measures 153 x 74 x 8.7mm, and comes with Quick Charge 3.0 technology for fast charging, courtesy of Qualcomm.
This smartphone actually comes with AI built in, Sharp AI is called EMOP, and it was actually announced along with this smartphone. Consumers in Japan will be able to purchase this smartphone separately, or with a charging dock called ‘ROBOKOKU’. Sharp did not share pricing info for this smartphone, but the company described it as a high-end compact handset, which means it won’t exactly be cheap. This phone will become available in Japan soon, though the company did not release any info regarding its international release, chances are it won’t be released out of Japan, actually. There you have it, this is Sharp’s most powerful smartphone to date, and it looks somewhat different than company’s other offerings, which was kind of unexpected.
