Sony had introduced four smartphones back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and one of those phones is now available for purchase. The Sony Xperia XA1 is the most affordable Sony-branded smartphone that was unveiled during MWC 2017, and it was not available for purchase until now. This handset is now available in Hong Kong, and if you live in the country you can purchase the device for HK$2,498, which is around $320, so the Xperia XA1 is not exactly as affordable as some people hoped it would be, at least in Hong Kong, though this phone has plenty to offer in the spec department.
Now, this variant of the Xperia XA1 actually comes with two SIM card slots, it features a dual SIM tray plus a separate microSD card slots, which means you will be able to use two SIM cards and also expand your memory at the same time, which is not an option many smartphones offer these days. A single SIM variant of this smartphone will become available in some other markets soon enough. Speaking of which, the device is already available for pre-order in Malaysia, and it will launch in Europe next week, on April 10. The phone launched in Black, White, Gold and Pink color variants in Hong Kong, and we’re expecting all those color options to become available in Europe as well. We still don’t have detailed info when it comes to European launch, aside from the fact what day the phone will launch, of course, so it remains to be seen in which markets will this budget handset become available.
The Sony Xperia XA1 sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by MediaTek’s Helio P20 64-bit octa-core processor, which is one of MediaTek’s most powerful mid-range processors. The phone features a 23-megapixel snapper on the back, while an 8-megapixel camera can be found on its front side. Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Xperia XA1, with Sony’s custom skin installed on top of it, of course. A 2,300mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable.
