The Sony Xperia XZs was announced by the Japanese manufacturer back in February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Now the device has appeared on Amazon’s US website for pre-order with a release date of April 5th (this Wednesday). The asking price is $699 for the dual-SIM model. It also comes with 64GB of storage out-of-the-box, so it’s actually a pretty decent price for this smartphone, even though Sony does typically have a bit of a markup on their smartphones.
Sony’s Xperia XZs is the successor to their Xperia XZ which was announced last fall. The company opted to stick to a 1080p display on the Xperia XZs, which with the display size being 5.2-inches, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The Xperia XZs still has a PPI of 424. It’s being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, and that is paired with the Adreno 530 GPU along with 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of internal storage, as we noted already, along with a micro SD card slot, and it’s all powered by a non-removable 2900mAh battery. It is also, surprisingly, running Android 7.1 Nougat, the first phone to launch with Android 7.1, besides the Google Pixel smartphones. For cameras, there is a 19-megapixel sensor on the back, with a 13-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Amazon has all three colors of the Xperia XZs available as well, this includes black, ice blue and warm silver. All three are priced at $699 and come unlocked. So they will work with both AT&T and T-Mobile’s network with ease. All you’ll need to do is pop your SIM card into the device and you’ll be good to go. Now this is a dual SIM smartphone, but the SIM card tray is a hybrid one. Which means that if you plan to use the micro SD card slot, you lose one of the SIM card slots. Which isn’t the end of the world, especially since Sony is selling the 64GB model here, instead of the 32GB model (a bit of a surprise, actually).
