Wear24, one of the first watches to come with Android Wear 2.0 out of the box, and be built around the new OS, is going to be available on Verizon in exactly 24 days. The watch was first announced back in February, alongside the LG Watch Sport. The LTE-equipped watch is going to cost $349.99 when it hits Verizon’s stores on May 11, although it will also be available for $299.99 on a two-year activation. Along with Android Wear 2.0, the Wear24 is set to bring a number of advanced features in a simple, appealing package, with its feature set sitting somewhere between the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style.
The new watch will come in Stainless Steel, Gunmetal Black, and Rose Gold. The simply styled smartwatch boasts a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 480 x 480 resolution. The Wear24 has a 450 mAh battery powering it, which can charge wirelessly. The processor humming along under there is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100, specifically built for smartwatches, paired up with an ample 768MB of RAM. 4GB of storage is on board, but no microSD card slot. The whole package has an IP57 rating, which means it can withstand 30 minutes in up to 3.3 feet of water. There is also a heart rate monitor on board as well.
Some of the more interesting features are on the software and network side. For starters, the Wear24 is bound to the phone number of the Android or iOS smartwatch that it’s paired to, and can use LTE to send and receive calls and texts even when it’s away from that phone. With LTE on board, and the Google Play Store courtesy of Android Wear 2.0, you’ll be able to keep up with notifications like email and social media. Essentially, you can leave your phone at home, if you’re so inclined. As a bonus, it boasts Wi-Fi to get a faster, more stable connection where available, NFC to make mobile payments, and Bluetooth to connect directly to earpieces and headphones, allowing you to make calls or stream music easily, all with your phone at home or in a different room. Google Assistant is on board to help you do what needs doing, or just to give you the information you need, when you need it.
