Xiaomi had introduced the Xiaomi Mi 6 in China today, following months of rumors and leaks. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is more or less exactly what we’ve expected, it resembles the Xiaomi Mi 5 quite a bit, but Xiaomi changed the design a bit, while the phone comes with an improved spec sheet, of course. One of the most notable changes on the Xiaomi Mi 6 is in the camera department, as the Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a dual camera setup on the back, while the Xiaomi Mi 5 sported ‘only’ one camera on its back.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 features two 12-megapixel snappers on the back, next to which you’ll notice the dual-LED, dual tone flash. A single 8-megapixel shooter is available on the phone’s front side for all your selfie needs. Now, we’re looking at one 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor here, and one 12-megapixel telephoto sensor. Xiaomi claims that you’ll get 2x lossless zoom here, and the phone also comes with a portrait mode which excels at capturing the depth of field and facial features, said the company. Xiaomi has also packed in 4-axis OIS here (like we’ve seen in the Xiaomi Mi 5), which should help you take steady shots. On top of all that, you can pull off a 10x digital zoom here with some help from Xiaomi’s ISP algorithm. Digital zoom is never the best solution, of course, but Xiaomi says that their software (in combination with hardware) can do a good job with it. The Xiaomi Mi 6’s camera comes with ‘Beautify 3.0’, which is Xiaomi’s feature which improves already taken photos. This feature, well, its previous iteration, worked really well on the Xiaomi Mi 5 in our testing, so we’re expecting even better results with the Mi 6. Xiaomi’s natural color correction algorithm is also a part of the package here, and all that in combination with Xiaomi’s software and sheet sensor power should result in really nice images from the Xiaomi Mi 6.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 was a really solid shooter, and its successor could make a significant leap forward. In any case, aside from the camera sensors, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has plenty to offer. This handset is made out of metal and glass, it is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, and it comes with 6GB of RAM. The device sports a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, and it does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you’d like to know more about the Mi 6’s specs, click here.
