The Xiaomi Mi MIX was one of the most intriguing smartphones of 2016, and its successor has just surfaced on GearBest. Now, the image that GearBest shared is probably not real (it’s probably a placeholder image), as that phone comes with literally no bezels at all, and we doubt that Xiaomi will be able to pull that off this year, that image definitely looks more like a concept render than anything less. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2’s spec sheet on GearBest looks far more believable, however, though it is possible that it is not real, so do that this info with a grain of salt.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is actually listed on GearBest in three variants, the device comes in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM models, first two variants sport 128GB of internal storage, while the latter one comes with 256GB of native storage. GearBest mentions that the device will be available in Black and White color variants, and that it will ship with a 6.4-inch 2540 x 1440 AMOLED display, while its predecessor sports a 2040 x 1080 panel. If GearBest is to be believed, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, along with the Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. A 19-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, and a 13-megapixel shooter will be available on its front side. Now, the 19-megapixel camera on the back probably sports Sony’s IMX400 sensor which is placed inside of the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs, and that is a very capable sensor. GearBest also mentions that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has two SIM card slots (2 x Nano SIM), and that it will come with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, and Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 OS will be placed on top of it. A fingerprint scanner will be placed on the back of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, and the device will offer support for a wide range of 4G LTE bands. A 4,500mAh battery is also mentioned by the source, while the Xiaomi Mi MIX came with a 4,400mAh battery pack.
There you have it, this could be the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, at least in the spec department, but it’s too early to tell. The Xiaomi Mi MIX was announced back in October last year, and its successor will probably land in Q4 as well, so we still have some time before Xiaomi opts to announce their new bezel-less phablet.
