Sony has today confirmed release and availability details for its new Sony Xperia XA1 smartphone in the US. As a result, the Xperia XA1 will be available to buy in the US as an unlocked model starting from May 1, 2017. Sony has also confirmed that the Xperia XA1 will be available from a range of online retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, BrandsMart, Fry’s, and more. In terms of price, the Xperia XA1 will be priced at $299.99 at launch. In preparation for that May 1 launching in the US, Sony has also now opened up pre-orders for the Xperia XA1. So for those looking to be the first to get their hands on this latest Sony smartphone, it is now available to pre-order online. Although pre-order availability is currently limited to just Amazon and Best Buy for now.
The Sony Xperia XA1 was announced at MWC 20017 alongside a number of other Sony smartphones, which are largely positioned at different price-points. One of those announced along with the Xperia XA1 was the Xperia XA1 Ultra. Although Sony has yet to confirm if and when the Xperia XA1 Ultra will become available to consumers in the US. In either case the Xperia XA1 the latest to see its availability in the US going live, following the Sony Xperia XZs which saw its US availability going live on April 5. Although, by comparison, the Xperia XA1 is a significantly more affordable smartphone, coming in at less than half the $699 asking price for the Xperia XZs.
In terms of what’s on offer for that $299.99 price, the Sony Xperia XA1 is a smartphone that comes equipped with a 5-inch display along with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside, the Sony Xperia XA1 comes loaded with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and is powered by a MediaTek Help P20 octa-core processor. Cameras comes in the form of a 23-megapixel rear camera, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Additional features include expandable storage (up to 256GB), a 2,300 mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging support, and Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) pre-installed. In terms of color options, the Sony Xperia XA1 is now available to pre-order in either black, gold, pink, or white.
