Sony’s Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra are now official as the company has just recently announced the two devices. Both smartphones are set for a launch later this year although Sony has not shared specific dates for the release just yet. That being said, both devices should launch sometime in the first half of the year. Both the Sony Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra come powered by MediaTek’s Helio P20 processor which is a 2.3GHz octa-core processor. This comes paired with the Mali T880 MP2 GPU for the graphics processing, and the Xperia XA1 comes with 3GB of RAM while the Xperia XA1 Ultra comes with slightly more RAM at 4GB.
For the camera side of things, both the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra come with the same camera sensor module and setup as the Xperia Z5 so they should be capable of taking some pretty decent pictures, and of course the two phones will be coming with the latest in Sony software for the user interface all running on top of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Android version, which means features like multi-window, app shortcuts, improved doze mode and more. In addition to the same camera as the Xperia Z5 for the rear camera sensor, the Xperia XA1 Ultra will also feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with optical image stabilization and LED flash for selfies and video chat.
Both devices are coming packed with USB Type-C as the connection port for charging and data transfer and they’ll each feature MediaTek’s Quick Charge functionality so you’ll be able to boost the battery back up to full rather fast, which should come in handy if you need to charge the device back up as much as possible but don’t have a lot of time. Much like all of Sony’s other smartphones the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra will feature a micro SD card slot for expandable storage support, which is addition to the 32GB and 32/64GB of storage that will be on the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra respectively. Currently Sony has not shared any pricing information on either device, nor have the mentioned which regions they plan to launch each new phone.
