A new smartphone from ASUS with model number ‘ASUS X00ID’ has now been benchmarked on GFXBench. Typical of such a listing, the benchmarking provides a degree of insight into what will be on offer with this new smartphone. For instance, the ASUS X00ID is listed to come with a 5.5-inch display that employs the help of a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside, the ASUS X00ID will come loaded with 3GB RAM (listed as 2.8GB), 32GB internal storage (listed as 23GB), and powered by a Qualcomm octa-core processor (clocking at 1.4 GHz).
However, what seems to be the most interesting aspect is that this smartphone comes loaded with a dual rear camera setup. One which is spearheaded by a 12-megapixel (could be 13-megapixel) primary camera and backed up by a secondary 5-megapixel (listed as 4.8MP) camera. While the front-facing camera will come in an 8-megapixel (listed as 7MP) form. The only other notable aspects from the listing, is that an Adreno 505 GPU will be in play, as will Android 7.1.1 (Nougat).
At the moment, there is little to suggest what device this will be launched as, due to the model number not being a familiar one. Although, it does stand to reason that this will likely be a new ZenFone model. In fact, back at the start of the year, rumors did surface that the new ASUS ZenFone 4 line will debut in May of 2017 – which would be in line with the previous ZenFone 3 launch the year before. However, this is certainly unlikely to be the flagship of that range, as it is expected that the main ZenFone model will come sporting a higher spec list than what is suggested here. Likewise, there was an even more recent rumors developing that ASUS might opt to use MediaTek SoCs in its next flagship ZenFone device – due to the often-reported Snapdragon 835 shortage. So this is unlikely to be the main ZenFone 4 smartphone to look out for, but could very well be a lower spec version. In either case, if this smartphone is due to launch this month along with any other ZenFone smartphones, then it stands to reason that more details will come through soon enough.
