Now, the Galaxy S8 and fidget spinners have one thing in common these days, they’re both extremely popular, and when you combine the two together, you do get a rather interesting video. Now, for those of you who do not know, a fidget spinner is a stress-relieving toy, it has been around for a long time (since the 90s), but it became commercially popular in 2017. This ‘toy’ was mainly used to help people who had trouble focusing or fidgeting, while it has lots of additional purposes these days, people use it to keep their fingers busy, perform tricks, and so on.
That being said, we’re here to talk about the aforementioned video which combines the Galaxy S8 with a ton of fidget spinners. Now, Gizmodo, which is a YouTube channel well known for rather odd and fun videos including tech, decided to glue a ton of fidget spinners to the Galaxy S8, and drop the phone from 100 feet in order to see whether it will shatter or not. To be more precise, they purchased a $1,000 worth of fidget spinners ($1,200, to be exact) in order to perform this test, a test which is, in all honesty, not exactly that useful as this is not an everyday situation or anything of the sort, but it’s sure fun to watch. Having said that, if you fire up the video which is embedded down below, you will get to see the aforementioned test, and slow motion video is a part of the picture, so if you’re interested, check it out.
Now, the Galaxy S8 did not survive this drop test, as expected, fidget spinners do not make a great bumper it seems, which was to be expected. The Galaxy S8 was completely destroyed after the drop, the glass was shattered, and the phone didn’t really look like a phone after this drop. The Galaxy S8 definitely isn’t a rugged device, and is not meant to be tossed around, as it is made out of metal and glass, plenty of glass. It is worth mentioning that the phone’s display did show some color when the person who threw it tried to turn it on, but it was too damaged to show anything meaningful on the display.
