Four color variants of what’s said to be the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) bearing the model number SM-J330 have surfaced online on Sunday, having been revealed by known industry insider Roland Quandt. The source claims that the newly leaked device isn’t the same model that was recently launched in the United States through AT&T, with the primary difference between the two being the amount of RAM and internal flash memory on offer. The international variant of the Galaxy J3 (2017) is expected to ship with at least 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and Samsung is even planning to release a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of flash memory in certain territories like China, latest reports indicate. For reference, the U.S. variant of the device boasts 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space.
The case of the upcoming Galaxy J-series handset is partially made of metal and will be offered in four color options – black, light blue, gold, and pink. The device sports a 5-inch LCD display panel with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels that’s protected by 2.5D glass and features a conventional 16:9 aspect ratio. Industry insiders claim that the handset will be powered by the Exynos 7570, Samsung’s 14nm 64-bit system-on-chip (SoC) with the ARM Mali-T720-GPU and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at a maximum frequency of 1.4GHz. The internal memory of the Galaxy J3 (2017) is said to be expandable via a microSD card slot that can be seen in the newly leaked renders below, though it’s currently unclear whether the handset will support up to 128GB or 256GB of additional storage space. The latter scenario is more likely in light of the fact that the Galaxy J3 (2016) already supported 256GB microSD cards and there’s little reason for Samsung to downgrade its successor in that regard.
The Galaxy J3 (2017) is said to feature a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front sensor and will be powered by a 2,600mAh battery that likely won’t be removable. The device will presumably run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, enhanced with Samsung’s proprietary mobile software suite. According to recent reports, Samsung’s latest entry-level smartphone is planned to be released in Germany, as well as Benelux and Scandinavian countries in the coming weeks, with the company planning to expand its availability this summer.
