A gray variant of the alleged Moto E4 Plus was leaked in three real-life images on Monday, simultaneously with the supposed Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Play. The device shown in the newly emerged photographs is wrapped in a semi-transparent case and seemingly features a camera bump on its rear plate. Unlike the Moto Z2, Motorola Mobility’s upcoming smartphone will ship with a 3.5mm audio jack but won’t feature a USB Type-C port and will instead sport a standard micro USB connector on its bottom side, located immediately next to a single speaker grill. The hybrid SIM slot of the handset is presumably placed on its right edge, the only one that isn’t shown in the new leak. The overall design of the Moto E4 Plus is apparently similar to that of its more expensive siblings, with the phone boasting rounded corners, extremely thin side bezels, and a physical Home button. Given how the upcoming device is expected to be an entry-level or a lower mid-range offering, it remains to be seen whether it will feature a fingerprint scanner but if it will, the thereof will likely be integrated into the Home button on its bottom bezel.
Recent reports indicated that the Moto E4 Plus will sport a 5.5-inch display panel with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels that will likely be protected by 2.5D glass, with the screen itself featuring a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. The handset is said to be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz and the Mali-T720MP2 GPU, which hints at the MediaTek MT6737 system-on-chip (SoC). The Lenovo-owned company is reportedly planning to offer two variants of the Moto E4 Plus boasting 2GB and 3GB of RAM, respectively, both of which will feature 16GB of internal flash memory expandable by up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. The phone is thought to be equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front sensor, the former of which will be accompanied by a standard LED flash unit.
The Moto E4 Plus will likely ship with a slightly modified version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is expected to be announced in the coming months alongside the smaller Moto E4.
