Huawei Edits Mate 9's Description, Brings Back UFS 2.1

Huawei had updated Mate 9’s description, UFS 2.1 Flash Memory is back. Now, some of you might wonder what’s going on here, well, following the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus controversy, Huawei is trying to be as accurate as possible it seems. The company has issued a couple of statements thus far regarding Huawei P10’s and Huawei P10 Plus’ flash storage, as the company included eMMC 5.1 flash storage in those two phones, and that was attributed to UFS 2.1 flash storage supply issues.

Now, one might wonder, what does the Huawei Mate 9 have to do with that? Well, it seems like the Mate 9 was also a part of the controversy. It was earlier revealed that some Huawei Mate 9 units come with UFS 2.0 storage, instead of the UFS 2.1 storage, which is why Huawei changed the description of the Huawei Mate 9 recently. Well, the company has now updated that description yet again in order to bring back UFS 2.1 flash storage back, which probably means that they’re no longer experiencing such issues, and that all Huawei Mate 9 units are now shipping with UFS 2.1, that’s an educated guess, at the very least. Now, some of you are probably wondering why is all of this a problem, well, the Huawei Mate 9 comes with the following description: “new UFS 2.1 flash memory with data transfer speeds that are 100% faster than eMMC 5.1”, so you can probably understand why are some users upset when the advertised components are not included, and why are some of them annoyed that UFS 2.1 is not included in the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus.

Truth be said, the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus are extremely fast phones, you cannot feel the difference whatsoever, unless you purposely run some sort of a diagnostic tool or something. In any case, the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus devices have been introduced back in February, and have been available for purchase for quite some time now. Huawei managed to sell a ton of devices in the first quarter of this year, and it will be interesting to see whether this controversy will affect their sales in the second quarter of this year.
