Huawei has just announced the much-rumored Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus smartphones. These two devices have been introduced in China, and are direct successors to the first-gen Huawei Nova devices which were introduced last year. Having said that, the Huawei Nova 2 and the Huawei Nova 2 Plus look identical in terms of the design, though the Huawei Nova 2 Plus is a larger smartphone. Huawei opted to use metal in order to bring these two phones to life, and both devices come with a dual camera setup on the back, and also a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Unlike the Huawei P10 devices, these two phones do not sport front-facing buttons, but come with on-screen ones. All the physical keys are placed on the right-hand side of the Huawei Nova 2 and the Huawei Nova 2 Plus, while a SIM card tray can be found on the left.
As far as specs concerned, the two devices are also quite similar, though the Huawei Nova 2 Plus comes with a larger, 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, while the regular Huawei Nova 2 model sports a 5-inch fullHD panel. The ‘Plus’ variant also comes with more internal storage. It packs in 128GB of flash storage, while the Nova 2 comes with 64GB of storage. Both devices offer microSD expansion, though, and both are fueled by the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor, which comes with the Mali T830-MP2 GPU for graphics. A 2,950mAh battery is included on the inside of the Huawei Nova 2, while you’ll find a 3,340mAh battery in the Huawei Nova 2 Plus. Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Huawei Nova 2 devices, and on top of it, you’ll find Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 skin. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also a part of the package, and there are two SIM card slots included in the Huawei Nova 2 devices. The Huawei Nova 2 measures 142.2 x 68.9 x 6.9mm, and it weighs 143 grams, while its sibling measures 153.9 x 74.9 x 6.9mm, and weighs 169 grams.
Both of these phones come in Aurora Blue, Grass Green, Gold, Rose Gold and Obsidian Black color variants, and will be available for pre-order starting today in China. The two phones will become available for purchase in China on June 16, and they will probably become available in more markets in the coming months. The Huawei Nova 2 is priced at 2,499 Yuan ($364), while the Huawei Nova 2 Plus costs 2,899 Yuan ($423).
