Hungry Shark has come to VR with a Daydream version of the game that Ubisoft has just launched on the Play Store recently. For those that aren’t familiar with hungry Shark, it’s a game where you play the shark and your goal is to eat as much as you can to raise your high score. Sharks have quite the appetite and it’s your job to make sure that you eat your fill, if that’s possible.
In Hungry Shark VR the gameplay follows a fairly similar path to past versions of the game, but this is much more immersive as you can feel like you’ve actually become the shark. Since this is a virtual reality it would only make sense for you as the player to have a large world to explore, and in Hungry Shark VR you have exactly that as the environment that’s been set up for you is extremely massive. Perhaps not massive on the same scale as what you’ll find with an MMORPG, but massive in it’s own right for this type of a game which should say something.
While much of the game will consist of you eating whatever comes your way, Hungry Shark VR actually offers up a collection of different mission types that you can come across, and in addition to the eating missions this includes rescue missions and races too, meaning you’ll have to prove that you’re the fastest thing in the ocean. You can unlock various species of shark to play with though you start with a Bull Shark, and work your way up to the Great White. Regardless of the shark you pick though you’ll always have some sort of enemy type to contend with, whether it be other sharks or human divers. Controls are of course handled by the Daydream remote which is likely to be expected since you use the remote to control everything on Daydream, and it supports a wide variety of different languages like English, English US, German, French, Italian, Japanese, and more. The game costs $4.99 which is really not too bad considering the amount of other games on the platform that cost double that or more, so this is one Daydream game that should be a steal.
