Info On ASUS ZenFone Zoom S Leaks Ahead Of Launch

More information regarding the upcoming ASUS ZenFone Zoom S surfaced online ahead of the smartphone’s launch that’s rumored to be held later this month. The ASUS-made smartphone is expected to be powered by the same hardware featured in the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom that the Taipei, Taiwan-based consumer electronics manufacturer delayed earlier this year. The only major difference between the two might be the size of their display panels as industry sources claim that the ASUS ZenFone Zoom S won’t feature the 5.5-inch screen present on the ZenFone 3 Zoom. Instead, this particular variant of the device is said to ship with a 5.2-inch or even a 5-inch display panel. Likewise, the rebranded and possibly smaller variant of the handset is currently only expected to be launched in Indonesia.

Regarding other hardware specifications, both the ZenFone Zoom S and the ZenFone 3 Zoom are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip (SoC) and 4GB of RAM. The device is said to be available in three memory configurations in the West, i.e. those sporting 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of storage space. However, it’s currently unclear whether the Taiwanese tech giant will opt to offer as many different models of the handset in Indonesia as the company traditionally only releases cheaper variants of its devices in developing countries. Regardless, the ZenFone Zoom S will also ship with a dual camera setup consisting of two 12-megapixel sensors accompanied by an LED flash and a 13-megapixel front camera. The non-removable battery is expected to be one of the main selling points of the handset as its capacity is said to be exactly 5,000mAh. Coupled with a relatively small display panel, the ZenFone Zoom S should be more than capable of lasting through the day on a single charge.

Other key features of the phone include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and Bluetooth 4.2 support. The ZenFone Zoom S should ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow running out of the box, though it remains to be seen to what degree will ASUS customize the stock Android user experience. More details on the smartphone are expected to follow soon seeing how the device is expected to launch by mid-May.
