With ASUS expected to launch its fourth-generation ZenFones at the Computex trade show in Taipei City later this month, the latest leaks regarding the devices indicate that much like in previous years, the Taiwanese company may actually launch a number of devices as part of its 2017 lineup. According to a report published by Notebook Italia, ASUS will divide its 2017 ZenFone lineup in three separate categories. Firstly, there will be the ZenFone 4 Max as part of the company’s affordable “Empowering Luxury” family. Then there will be the “Premier Luxury” category that will see the launch of the new ZenFone 4 (2017), and finally, there will be the “Ultimate Luxury” class that will include the premium ZenFone 4S.
While the exact hardware specifications of ASUS’ upcoming smartphones is still up in the air, the latest rumors seem to suggest that the ZenFone 4 Max should come with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen. The device is also expected to be powered by either the Snapdragon 630 or the Snapdragon 660, both of which were announced recently by American chipmaker Qualcomm. The device is also believed to carry a 4,000 or 5,000mAh battery in the best traditions of the company’s ‘Max’ family of devices that typically ship with giant batteries. The device is also rumored to have a physical Home Button with an integrated fingerprint scanner, and sport a dual-camera module on the back. Unlike many recent handsets, though, this particular device is expected to come with a 3.5mm audio port on the top, with the volume rockers and the power button neatly placed on the side.
While there’s no official confirmation yet from ASUS that its upcoming ZenFone lineup will indeed be launched at the Computex trade show in Taiwan later this month, earlier rumors have claimed that the company is certainly planning for a big reveal at the upcoming trade fair in in its own backyard. It is also important to note here that as per these rumors, ASUS doesn’t seem to be moving away from the ZenFone 4 nomenclature for its fourth-generation ZenFones, even though the company already launched a ZenFone 4 back in 2014 as part of its first-generation ZenFone family that also included a ZenFone 5 and a ZenFone 6. That year, the naming was based on screen sizes, with the ZenFone 4 featuring a 4-inch screen, while the other two devices came with 5-inch and 6-inch screens respectively.
