An image of the unannounced Nubia Z17 has popped up online, giving rise to speculations that the Chinese company may be looking to launch the device fairly soon. As can be seen from the image, the device is seemingly listed on an undisclosed Chinese site, where it is being offered in at least two different versions – one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and another, with 8GB of RAM alongside 128GB of storage. The smartphone seems to have curved edges on both sides, and also, what looks like a dual-camera module on the back. It is, however, impossible to verify the legitimacy of the image at this point in time, so it should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed by official sources.
It is worth noting here that an unannounced Nubia device with model number NX563J was recently spotted on Geekbench, revealing some of its key hardware specs. With no official statement coming from the Nubia regarding its upcoming smartphone, speculations in sections of the online tech media seemed to suggest that the device will eventually be launched as the Nubia Z17. According to Geekbench, the NX563J will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, and have 4GB of RAM. However, if the latest leak is anything to go by, the upcoming handset may well feature even more lucrative hardware, including a minimum of 6GB RAM in the base model, while the more premium model might actually sport a whopping 8GB of RAM.
Nubia recently launched the Z17 mini in China. That device comes with relatively mid-range hardware compared to what’s being rumored for its bigger, more premium sibling. Unlike the Snapdragon 835 that’s expected to power the Nubia Z17, the Z17 mini is actually powered by either the Snapdragon 652 or the Snapdragon 653 depending on the model. Not only will the upcoming Nubia Z17 have a larger 5.5-inch display as opposed to the 5.2-inch screen on the Z17 mini, it will also apparently be a much more performance-oriented device if the leaks hold up in the long run. As for the Z17 mini, Nubia is expected to launch it in international markets in the coming weeks, with the Indian launch apparently slated for later this month.
