The Moto Z2 Play has popped up on TENAA within the last few days. Of course, this is not the first time that the Moto Z2 Play has surfaced on TENAA, as it did so a couple of weeks ago. While there is no firm confirmation that this is indeed the Moto Z2 Play – as opposed to the Moto Z2 Force – it is commonly believed that the latter adopts the use of dual rear cameras, while the former, a single rear camera. With the specs of this model largely identical to the previous TENAA-linked model, and the images highlighting a single rear camera, the firm assumption is that this is indeed another Moto Z2 Play variant. In either case, the difference between this latest TENAA listing and the last, is the model number. With this model coming listed with an XT1710-11 model number, and the previous version, an XT1710-08 model number. Although, that is not the only notably difference.
The previous TENAA listing showed the Moto Z2 Play as coming equipped with a 2,820 mAh capacity battery. However, shortly after that initial listing was spotted, a Lenovo executive was noted confirming that the Moto Z2 Play will actually come equipped with a 3,000 mAh capacity battery. Leading to some contradiction between the two reports. That does now seem to have been rectified though, as this listing does indeed confirm the inclusion of a 3,000 mAh battery. Suggesting there will be more than one variant of the Moto Z2 Play coming to market. With the multiple variant assumption further validated by this particular listing highlighting a China Mobile variant of the device. As such, it does seem to be the case that there will be multiple variants of the Moto Z2 Play, and ones which will differ in some respects, if only on battery capacity – whether they be carrier or regional-variations.
Other than the battery capacity, much of the rest of the listing is identical to the previous TENAA listing. As such, the XT1710-11 model is also listed to come sporting 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and a 2.2 GHz SoC (likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625). Along with a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) pre-installed. One other difference worth pointing out is that this model is listed with a 5.5-inch display, compared to the 5.49-inch display detailed in the previous TENAA listing.
