Meizu’s Head of Global Marketing. Mr. Ard Boudeling, has retweeted GSM Arena’s article on his official Twitter page, and the site posted an image of Meizu’s upcoming smartphone, and along with that, the release date of the company’s ‘Meizu M’ handset. By retweeting that image and the phone’s release date, Mr. Boudeling basically confirmed that the device is launching tomorrow, May 23. Now, for those of you who are not in the loop, we’ve exclusively shared an image of that device a couple of days ago. If we connect the dots, then this probably has something to do with Meizu’s recent ‘C’ teaser that the company shared via Twitter recently.
Now, if rumors are to be believed, we’re looking at the Meizu M5C here, though its name hasn’t been confirmed just yet, so take this info with a grain of salt. Now, this phone will be quite affordable, as are all the other ‘Meizu M’ smartphones that are currently available out there. That being said, the device will probably pack in mid-range specs, and it seems like it will be made out of metal, though that hasn’t been confirmed yet either. The company’s mBack multifunctional button will be placed below the display once again, and it will function as the device’s physical home key, capacitive back button, fingerprint scanner and if you long press it you’ll be able to turn off the display. A single camera will be included on the back of the device, and it will not protrude on the back, which is always nice to see, that’s for sure. The device’s bezels won’t be extremely thin, but they won’t be that thin either, compared to some other devices out there.
So, what about its specs? Well, we still don’t have any info when that is concerned, but as already mentioned, you can expect mid-range specifications here. Chances are that the device will be quite compact, so we’re looking at a display between 5 and 5.5 inches here, while the phone will probably ship with 3GB of RAM. One of MediaTek’s mid-range processors is expected to fuel this smartphone, the Helio P20 maybe, though it’s also possible that this could be the first Meizu-branded, Snapdragon-powered smartphone out there, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this smartphone, and on top of it, you’ll get Meizu’s Flyme 6 OS. The device is coming tomorrow, so stay tuned.
