At least two new images, said to be official press renders of the upcoming Moto E4 Plus, have leaked online. As can be seen from the images, the device will very likely be offered in at least two different colors – Gold and Black. The images don’t really seem to contradict anything that had been rumored before, and show off a physical home button on the front, a single camera with flash on the back, and what looks like a 3.5 mm audio port on top. The Moto E4 Plus and its smaller sibling, the Moto E4, have been rumored for months now, and only earlier today, two separate listings on the website of Indonesian regulator P3DN revealed some of the key hardware specs of the upcoming devices.
According to the listing, the Moto E4 Plus (XT1770) will feature a 5.5-inch IPS display with 2.5D Arc Glass. The device will be powered by a MediaTek MT6737 chip that comes with an integrated quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz. The device will apparently ship with 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of built-in storage, which can be expanded with microSD cards of up to 128GB in capacity. In terms of the optics, the rear-facing primary camera on the handset will have a 13-megapixel sensor with autofocus, while the front-facing selfie cam will be a fixed-focus 5-megapixel unit. The device is also expected to ship with a rather large 5,000 mAh battery. While the P3DN listing doesn’t reveal anything about the phone’s software, earlier rumors have suggested that the device will have Android Nougat pre-installed.
The Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus will be the premium entry-level offerings from Motorola this year. The Lenovo-owned company is also expected to launch some even more affordable devices as part of its rumored Moto C range that will apparently represent the true entry-level segment in the sub-$100 price point. While those devices are expected to come with smaller screens and less-powerful hardware, they’ll still be fairly important in Motorola’s scheme of things for this year. As for the upcoming fourth-generation Moto E lineup, the devices are expected to be announced within the next few weeks, although there’s still no official word on when exactly that might happen.
