Nokia’s highly-anticipated Android flagship, the Nokia 6, has finally passed through the FCC. The Nokia 6, listed as model number TA-1025 by the regulation documents, is just one of three big devices announced by the company this year at Mobile World Congress (MWC) – which took place back in February. In the meantime, the handset has already been available in other parts of the world and has even recently received an update or two. However, Nokia has been taking a more calculated approach to the U.S. market and, of the three devices debuted by Nokia at MWC, the ‘6’ will be the first to hit the country when it does arrive. Fortunately, for those that have been waiting to buy what Nokia is selling, that arrival appears to be pretty close with FCC approval taken care of.
Although the Nokia 6 is easily the upper echelon of those above-mentioned devices, it finds its place in the mid-range tier overall when compared to the market as a whole. With the cost of high-end devices nearing or surpassing $1000, what Nokia has done is to create a resilient smartphone that should deliver solid performance at an affordable cost. By way of reminder, the device is set to arrive with a 5.5-inch fullHD screen and an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 430 chipset. The processor will be backed up by a respectable 3GB and 32GB of storage space while being powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. The back of the Nokia 6 features a 16-megapixel main camera and the front has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. All of that will be overlayed by the latest software optimizations and features found in Android 7.1.1 (Nougat).
Unfortunately, it isn’t known whether or not the increased RAM variation of the Nokia 6 will be tagging along. That version comes in a specialty color – which Nokia calls Arte Black – and features 4GB of RAM instead of the usual 3GB. The Nokia 6 will most likely arrive with the other color options intact. Those include Matte Black, Tempered Blue, Silver, and Copper. It is also unknown when or if Nokia’s other two devices, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, will be arriving at the FCC as they make their way to the U.S. market. That said, FCC certification for the Nokia 6 is great news and those who have been waiting for the device to drop will be happy to know that wait should be almost over.
