OnePlus decided to shed some more light on its upcoming flagship phone’s camera characteristics and revealed that the company has partnered with DxO Labs in order to provide a superior camera experience for future OnePlus 5 users.
Smartphones are arguably today’s most popular and widespread image capturing devices in the world and many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have recently been putting an increasingly large focus on improving the image-capturing capabilities of their devices. This is likely why OnePlus has decided to team up with DxO Labs in order to provide an enhanced photography experience for the upcoming OnePlus 5. DxO Labs is a company that specializes in image processing software and is perhaps best-known in the consumer world for its popular DxOMark Mobile photography benchmark that ranks smartphone camera capabilities. It’s also the same company that recently granted a score of 90 points to the HTC U 11’s camera setup, implying that HTC’s new flagship features the best mobile camera on the planet. OnePlus didn’t reveal many details about its exact mobile photography strategy or how exactly DxO Labs will be involved in developing the camera for the OnePlus 5. Having said that, only time will tell whether DxO Labs provided any kind of software or if it only lend its advice and expertise for the development of the OnePlus 5. Whatever the case may be, OnePlus is confident that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will have the ability to capture “some of the clearest photos around.”
The upcoming OnePlus 5 has been subjected to a handful of leaks in recent months, and the same device was spotted in the AnTuTu benchmark revealing some of its hardware components earlier this week, including a 16-megapixel main camera accompanied by a 16-megapixel front-facing sensor. The OnePlus 5 is expected to carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip housing an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 540 graphics chip, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal memory, and a Full HD (1920 x 1080) display panel, according to AnTuTu. The smartphone will reportedly run OnePlus’ proprietary OxygenOS mobile operating system based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. As far as availability is concerned, the OnePlus 5 is expected to launch this summer, but no exact release dates have been revealed by the Chinese phone maker so far.
