The Galaxy Note 7R, also known as the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 handset, just got certified by Bluetooth SIG. The Galaxy Note 7 was amongst Samsung’s biggest failures of all time, and despite the fact the company lost a ton of cash because of that device, it is planning to release a refurbished variant of the device. The Galaxy Note 7R listings started popping up in China quite recently, and reports are claiming that the phone is on its way to South Korea as well. This Bluetooth SIG listing only confirms that the launch of the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 is right around the corner, though it does not exactly share any specific details about the device.
That being said, the Galaxy Note 7R also got certified by the FCC earlier this month, in case you didn’t know that. The Galaxy Note 7R is expected to hit both China and Korea, but the phone almost certainly will not come to the US, and chances are it won’t become available in Europe either. Samsung will be quite picky when it comes to choosing market for the release of the refurbished Galaxy Note 7, and for a good reason, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are already out, and the Galaxy Note 8 is right around the corner. The Galaxy Note 7 does bring back a lot of bad memories for Samsung, and the fact that the company plans to release its refurbished variant came as a surprise for many people, so it’s not exactly surprising that we’ll get to see it released in only a couple of markets.
Now, according to reports, the Galaxy Note 7R will be available through SK Telecom, KT Corporation and LG Uplus carriers in South Korea. The Galaxy Note 7R will ship with a smaller battery than the original Galaxy Note 7 phablet, instead of a 3,500mAh battery, the Galaxy Note 7R will sport a 3,200mAh battery unit on the inside, at least according to some reports. The phone is expected to land in Blue Coral, Black, White and Silver variants, while it will cost 3,599 Yuan ($521) in China, at least if rumors are to be believed. The Galaxy Note 7R will probably become available in the near future, so stay tuned.
