Report: Galaxy S7 Now The Most Used Samsung Device Worldwide

Last year’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones are now considered the most used Samsung devices worldwide, based on a new report from ScientiaMobile. According to that report, up until now, Samsung’s most used device worldwide was the Galaxy S5. A device which proved to be immensely popular – at one point reportedly reaching the hands of 5.5-percent of all Samsung owners. In second place was the Galaxy S6 line which eventually peaked at 3.1-percent of all Samsung users. Since their respective peaks though, usage of both devices has been on a steady decline and it appears the Galaxy S7 has been the go-to device for the majority of users.

The Galaxy S5 lasted a whopping 579 days before it reached its peak usage, while the Galaxy S6 only managed to keep its usage growth going for 428 days. Now, after 400 days on the market, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 is considered to be the most widely used model among Samsung users. Which is of particular importance as the current usage of the Galaxy S7 line is still increasing. To help matters, the launch of the Galaxy S8 has driven prices of the Galaxy S7 line down, something that has likely helped boost sales more recently. With sales increasing at such a steady pace, it appears the Galaxy S7 line could go on to eventually beat the usage peak of the previous generations, albeit after a longer period of time. With usage of Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6 users declining though, Samsung will likely be doing its best to entice them over to the newer Galaxy S8 and/or S8 Plus.

Samsung’s latest flagship is expected to surpass sales of the Galaxy S7 line by a significant margin, so if these expectations turn out to be true, it’ll remain to be seen how long it will take before this year’s flagship is the reigning device when it comes to usage. Realistically though, which device is the most used isn’t necessarily the most important aspect for Samsung. After all, as long as sales for both Galaxy S8 models stay strong, along with a constant flow of income thanks to users picking up last year’s models, the company will presumably be happy enough. Samsung recently forecast a 50-percent profit jump due to the Galaxy S8 and, if the company can keep the momentum up when it comes to the eventual release of the Galaxy Note 8, 2017 could prove to be a very profitably and big year for the company.
