Report: Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 Renamed To Galaxy Note FE

The Galaxy Note 7R has been all over the news lately, but it seems like Samsung won’t launch the device under that name. According to a new report by ET News, the Galaxy Note 7R will be called the Galaxy Note FE, which is interesting. The ‘FE’ part stands for ‘Fandom Edition’, according to the source, and the phone is coming at the end of June it seems. Now, for those of you who do not know, this actually a refurbished Galaxy Note 7, it is identical to the original Galaxy Note 7 in terms of specs, except for one detail, it comes with a smaller battery pack on the inside.

This smartphone comes with a model number SM-N935, and was already certified by the FCC, the Wi-Fi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG. The ‘Fandom Edition’ is actually supposed to mean that this edition of the Galaxy Note 7 is being released for fans, those of you who purchased the Galaxy Note 7, but were disappointed when the issues started. As most of you remember, the Galaxy Note 7 was a huge failure for Samsung because it has battery issues, the Galaxy Note 7 units started exploding all over the world, and the company actually had to recall the phone on two occasions, as the company was unable to fix issues with second editions of the smartphone. Samsung opted to put a smaller battery pack on the inside of the device it seems (a 3,200mAh battery instead of a 3,500mAh unit), change its name, and see what happens. The phone will probably land in Blue Coral, Black, White and Silver variants, and it is expected to cost 3,599 Yuan ($521) in China., while it will become available in some other markets as well, it seems like it, at the very least.

The Galaxy Note FE will sport a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. Samsung’s Exynos 8890 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel this smartphone, and a 3,200mAh battery will be included on the inside, as we’ve already mentioned. A 12-megapixel OIS shooter (f/1.7 aperture) will be placed on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be included on the front side of the device. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will probably come out of the box here (same as on the Galaxy Note 7), unless Samsung opted to ship the device with Android Nougat out of the box, which would be a nice touch by the company. That’s more or less it, all we can do at this point is sit and wait for Samsung to start selling this phone.
