Samsung is offering up a new set of freebies for those looking to buy the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. Unfortunately this does not apply to those that pre-ordered or bought either device before May 3rd. For those that buy the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus between May 3rd and May 16th, however, Samsung is offering up 6 months of Netflix, a free case and a 64GB micro SD card. Not a bad haul for those looking to pick up the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. It definitely is more appealing for some, than a free Gear VR with Controller, that pre-orderers all got.
To redeem your purchase and get your free gifts, you will need to download the Shop Samsung app from the Google Play Store, and from there you will be asked to input your information, so that Samsung can be sure you are a valid buyer. This information includes your name, address, a receipt and information on where you purchased your device. It should take a couple of weeks for Samsung to go over your information and begin sending your gifts. Although they did start sending out the Gear VR with Controller within days of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus launching, so it could be sooner.
In recent years, Samsung and other manufacturers have been offering up freebies when you buy their new flagship smartphone. It’s basically like the new mail-in rebate that was so popular when flip phones were a big deal. This is a way for Samsung to tempt users into buying their device, and usually users will forget to follow the appropriate steps to redeem their gifts, similar to a mail-in rebate. But instead of getting cash back this time around, you get free gifts. And who can argue with getting 6 months of Netflix for free, or a free case and a 64GB micro SD card? Of course it would be great to getter a bigger capacity card, but that’s still nothing to sneeze at, as it essentially doubles the amount of storage on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.
