Six Galaxy J7 (2017) Variants Get Wi-Fi Certification

Samsung’s Galaxy J7 (2017) has just gone through the Wi-Fi certification process, with six models receiving clearance from the Wi-Fi Alliance. The upcoming smartphone has been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors, and the fact that it has now surfaced at the Wi-Fi Alliance suggests it won’t be too long until we see it officially announced. The six model numbers are SM-J730F, SM-J730F/DS, SM-J730G, SM-J730G/DS, SM-J730GM, and finally SM-J730GM/DS, with the ‘DS’ additions indicating dual SIM models. The certifications for the above models show them all to be running the Android 7.0 Nougat OS. It’s worth noting that a phone thought to be the Galaxy J7 (2017) with model numbers SM-J730FM and SM-J730FM/DS has previously shown up at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) but has not appeared in this latest round of Wi-Fi certifications.

Recent benchmark sightings have already revealed some of these model numbers and the SM-J730F has already received FCC certification. Some specifications of the upcoming Galaxy J7 for 2017 have also emerged from the benchmark spots, so the mid-range smartphone might not be too much of a surprise when the details are announced. However, none of this is confirmed until Samsung chooses to officially launch the device. So far, it appears that a 2.2GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor will power the phone, it will have 3GB of RAM, and a minimum of 16GB of internal storage. It’s set to have a 5.5-inch display with FullHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 but there’s no news yet on the battery size. The phone is tipped to have a fingerprint sensor and to be equipped with a 12/13-megapixel rear camera with FullHD video capture. However, the front-facing camera is open to question, as there have been leaks of either a 5-megapixel shooter or another 12 or 13-megapixel unit. As far as the design is concerned the phone is tipped to have a mostly metal build and a slight change to the rear camera area than appeared on the Galaxy J7 (2016). While the pricing and availability remain unknown at this point, there have been claims that the phone will be offered by AT&T, Sprint, and other mobile carriers when it releases.
