The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is Sony’s current flagship smartphone, and in order to promote it, Sony had released a short slow motion film which was shot using this handset. If you fire up the embedded video down below, you’ll be able to check out this short film, which comes with a duration time of about one and a half minute. Sony made sure that you see some cool stuff in this movie, including breaking glass in slow motion, plenty of colors, water flying everywhere, and so on. Such clips are really fun to see in general, slow motion video only makes things more interesting.
This video was directed by a well-known film-maker, Chris Cairns, which was hired by Sony. All of these clips were shot by journalists over at Sony’s European Press event in Lisbon, in case you were wondering. Now, let’s talk a bit more about the MotionEye camera that was used to shoot this video. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium ships with the same sensor as the Xperia XZs, and those two devices are the only smartphones around to sport Sony’s IMX400 sensors on the inside. This is a very capable camera, we’re looking at a 19-megapixel shooter which comes with f/2.0 aperture, 22mm lens, 1/3” sensor size and 1.12um pixel size. This camera made the Sony Xperia XZ Premium the first smartphone with 960 frames per second video capture, which accounts for 4 times more frames than your conventional slow motion shooter, at least according to Sony. That being said, if you’re interested, take a minute or two and enjoy the video that is included below the article.
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a true flagship, aside from the rear-facing camera we talked about in the last paragraph, this phone packs in a ton of additional high-end specs. The Xperia XZ Premium features a 5.46-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. A 13-megapixel snapper is placed on the front side of this smartphone, and Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the device with the company’s custom UI on top of it. A 3,230mAh battery is included in this package as well, and you do get Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 here as well.
