T-Mobile's Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Now Receiving Android Nougat

T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is finally getting its Android 7.0 Nougat update. This update is actually three weeks late, as it has been delayed by the carrier, it should have been released in early May. In any case, the update is finally here, and it brings a slew of new features to the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, features that we’ve already seen on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. The company confirmed this via the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus’ support page, which is linked as ‘source’ down below.

Now, unfortunately, T-Mobile did not list the updated changelog for the device, or anything of the sort, so other than your regular Nougat stuff that arrived to other ‘Galaxy S6’ devices, we really don’t know if T-Mobile implemented anything else. This update brings the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus’ software version to G928TUVUEQC6, and if you own T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, you can check if the update is available by navigating to ‘System Updates’, which are located under ‘About Device’ tab in the device’s settings. So, with the Android 7.0 Nougat update, you will get an updated UI, a ton of new notification shade-related features which will let you see way more info than you were able to on Android Marshmallow, improved Doze functionality, and so much more. Android 7.0 Nougat is a rather significant step up compared to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, even though Google did not exactly revamp the whole OS this time around, only refined what it already released with Android 6.0 Marshmallow by optimizing the OS, and adding quite a few new features.

The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is Samsung’s phablet which was announced back in August 2015, and yet it’s still quite a compelling phone. This device sports a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of non-expandable native storage. The device is fueled by the company’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package. A 16-megapixel OIS snapper can be found on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel camera is placed on its front side. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop originally shipped on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, while the phone received Android 7.0 Nougat update a while back, though T-Mobile’s units did not have access to it until now.
