The Elder Scrolls card battler is live on Google Play for anyone who is looking for a new game to check out. If you’re particular fond of competitive gameplay and games in the card genre, then The Elder Scrolls: Legends is for you. There are certainly no shortage of card battlers on Android and there are definitely some that are dominating the platform, such as Hearthstone, but The Elder Scrolls is an extremely popular franchise with a huge fanbase, so chances are Bethesda has put some hard work into this one in getting it ready for the mobile launch on Android devices.
Like other card games The Elder Scrolls: Legends will task you with building out a deck for use against other players. There are multiple ways to play against other users. For example, you can play the game in a ranked mode, or you can simply play against friends or draft a deck and play against other’s with a drafted deck. If you’re just getting your feet wet though or if you simply prefer to play single-player, The Elder Scrolls: Legends actually boasts a robust story mode that is said to have “hours of gameplay” so you can go about things solo. This is the perfect mode for checking things out to get an idea of how the game works, but it also allows you to earn more card packs to build your deck, so even if you plan on playing this game more for the online competitive aspect, it will be beneficial to go through the story mode.
Like any card battler there will be tons of different cards with various abilities and attacks that will allow you to make strategic moves which push you closer to victory. Some cards can also be upgraded to make them more powerful, so instead of simply switching out a card for something with a stronger attack or ability, you can work towards upgrading a really good card to get it to the level that you want. Perhaps the most intriguing part about this game though is the way that the board is set up. It features a two-lane build allowing you to essentially enter battle in both lanes for an added layer of challenge as you’ll need to pay attention to both sides of the board for both your own cards and your opponent’s. The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a free to play game, so expect some micro transactions, though they shouldn’t be too heavy-handed. Another thing worth noting is that at the time of writing it does look like there are some device compatibility limitations. More specifically the game could not be installed on a Google Pixel running on the latest version of Android 7.1.2 Nougat, so users may run into issues with installation.
