The Galaxy Note 8 appears set to feature a large Infinity display, just like the Galaxy S8 line. The Infinity display has been at the center of Samsung’s new design language this year so the latest report appears to make sense. The rumor states that Samsung’s next big flagship for 2017, will come with an even larger Infinity display than the one found on the Galaxy S8+. The Galaxy Note 8 certainly has a lot to prove after the issues surrounding last year’s Galaxy Note 7, so including an Infinity display is sure to be an impressive design feature for the device.
The report claims that the device will feature a large 6.3-inch display size, up from the Galaxy Note 7’s 5.7-inch display. As is to be expected, the Infinity display is set to keep the new 18:9 aspect ratio and, considering the 1440 x 2960 resolution present on the Galaxy S8 lineup, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the same resolution on this year’s Galaxy Note model. Perhaps most interestingly, though, are the rumors surrounding an integrated fingerprint scanner underneath the display. It’s no secret that one of the biggest design disappointments for some users with the Galaxy S8 line was the rear placement of the fingerprint scanner, with many claiming it was awkward to reach. On an even larger device, though, it seems Samsung is set to fix this by placing the fingerprint scanner directly underneath the display in order to avoid any disturbance with the rear placement.
In addition to this, though, it appears the Samsung has plans to place a dual-camera setup on the rear of the device, a first on a Samsung flagship. Lastly, the report claims the Galaxy Note 8 will come running Android 7.1.1. Considering Android O is set for a late summer release, it might be disappointing to some if Samsung released its next flagship with anything other than the latest Android version. Either way, the upcoming flagship is set to be one of the company’s most important yet. With the Galaxy S8 lineup being announced relatively late this year, it’s possible that Samsung could announced and launch the Galaxy Note 8 later this year as well.
