Huawei has just confirmed that the upcoming Huawei Mate 10 will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Huawei has confirmed the news via its official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and the company also said that a new version of EMUI will run on top of Android 8.0 Oreo, which was expected. Huawei, however, did not say which version of EMUI will it be, but we’re expecting to see EMUI 6, EMUI 5.1 is the latest variant of the company’s custom skin, and it is based on Android Nougat, so it would make sense to make a jump to EMUI 6.0 for Android 8.0 Oreo, as EMUI 5.0 launched first for Android 7.0 Nougat a while back.
For those of you who are in the dark regarding the Huawei Mate 10, the company will announce this handset on October 16 in Berlin, Germany. Huawei is actually expected to announce several smartphones on October 16, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro will almost certainly launch alongside the Huawei Mate 10, while the Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Edition will probably land as well. The Huawei Mate 10 Lite was also rumored, though it is possible that Huawei may opt to introduce that handset at a later date, we’ll see. Having said that, all of those handsets will probably run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, and all of them will probably ship with the same version of Emotion UI, though their software will be slightly different when it comes to some features, of course.
The Huawei Mate 10 will be fueled by the Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core SoC, and the same can be said for the Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Porsche Edition. The Huawei Mate 10 will probably sport 6GB of RAM on the inside, while Huawei will introduce more than one storage variant of this smartphone, at least that’s what the rumors have been saying. The Huawei Mate 10 will have relatively thin bezels, but not to the extent of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. All Mate 10 flagships will be made out of metal it seems, and all of them will also sport a dual camera setup on the back, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Leica’s lenses will, once again, be a part of the ‘Mate’ package.
