Huawei is one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, the company had actually managed to trump Apple earlier this year, and become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and according to a new report that just appeared, Huawei sold far more devices than we realized. According to a new report, which is based on an interview with Richard Yu (also known as Yu Chengdong), CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, Huawei actually managed to sell over 100 million smartphones in the first three quarters of this year.
Richard Yu actually said that Huawei’s revenue rose by more than 30 percent from January to September of this year, and that a number of Huawei’s retail outlets also increased quite a bit, more than 19 percent year-on-year, as it now counts 42,300 of them worldwide. Mr. Yu also added that Huawei plans to keep releasing mid-range and high-end devices in order to expand to even more markets, and improve its position in the market even further. According to Mr. Yu, Huawei actually counts over 10,000 employees who are working in the research and development sector within the company, and are boosting the company. There you go, it seems like Huawei managed to sell over 100 million smartphones in only nine months this year, which can be considered a huge success considering that it managed to ship out 140 million units in 2016 as a whole. It’s also worth noting that Xiaomi is aiming to ship 90 million phones by the end of this year, while Huawei managed to trump that in only nine months, so its success on a global scale is not all that surprising, when we look at those numbers.
Some of you probably recall what Richard Yu said last month, he said that the company is not aiming only at Apple, but Samsung as well. Huawei is actually aiming to become the world’s number one smartphone manufacturer, and even though some people were skeptical until recently, Huawei doesn’t seem to be stopping, quite on the contrary, it’s constantly increasing its sales numbers. It will definitely be interesting to see how many smartphones the company will sell in 2017 as a whole, and if it will be able to crush its record from last year.
