HMD Global has just announced a new Nokia-branded smartphone, the Nokia 7. This handset has been rumored for quite some time now, and it’s not finally official. The device was announced in China, and we’re looking at a mid-range phone here. The Nokia 7 is made out of metal and glass, while it is actually quite compact, it sports a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, which comes with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it, and it is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 as well.
Having said that, the phone features a 7000-series aluminum chassis with diamond cut bevelled edges, and an unnamed version of Corning’s Gorilla Glass is applied on the back of this phone. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 630 64-bit octa-core SoC, which comes with the Adreno 508 GPU. The device packs in 4GB / 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, while it also includes 64GB of expandable storage (eMMC 5.1, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). A 16-megapixel snapper (PDAF, ZEISS optics) is placed on the back of this phone, and a dual-tone flash is also a part of the package. A 5-megapixel shooter (1.12um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree wide-angle lens) is included on the front side of this phone, and the device comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, while 9V/2A fast charging is also included here. It’s worth noting that the Nokia 7 also comes with a ‘Bothie’ mode, which essentially lets the front and back cameras capture images at the same time. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also included on the Nokia 7, while the phone sports dual microphones, and the Nokia OZO audio as well.
This phone comes with two SIM card slots, you will find two nano SIM card slots on the phone, while you can use the second SIM card slot in order to expand the phone internal storage (hybrid setup). Bluetooth 5.0 is also a part of this package, while the phone supports 4G LTE with VoLTE, and the same can be said for Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz). Android 7.1.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Nokia 7, while the phone measures 141.2 x 71.45 x 7.92mm. The Nokia 7 comes in Gloss Black and Matt White color variants, while its 4GB RAM model costs 2,499 Yuan ($376) in China. A 6GB RAM variant of the Nokia 7 is priced at 2,699 Yuan ($406) in China, and we still do not have any info regarding the Nokia 7’s available outside of China.
