It was just announced that three of Nokia’s handsets will become officially available in Canada, the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3310 (3G variant). This news was announced by Zoompass, a financial services technology company, which will distribute HMD Global’s Nokia smartphones in the country. Nokia-branded phones will be distributed to specific retail outlets, though Zoompass did not mention any other phones aside from the three that we’ve listed, though it is possible that we’ll see more Nokia-branded phones in Canada in the near future, of course.
Having said that, the pricing info was also announced, the Nokia 3310 3G is the most affordable handset that will reach Canada, as it will cost $79.99 CAD, which translates to $62. The Nokia 3 is set to cost $199.99 CAD ($155), while the Nokia 5 will set you back $259.99 CAD ($202). Zoompass plans to start selling these three handsets to Canadian consumers in early December, though their availability will be limited at first, it seems. That being said, all of these phones were introduced earlier this year by HMD Global, the Nokia 3310 2.5G variant was announced first, and the Nokia 3310 3G followed later on, it was announced quite recently, actually. This is essentially a feature phone which comes with 3G connectivity, and Nokia’s very own software on top, which should give you some access to the internet. This is, needless to say, a new variant of the legendary Nokia 3310 smartphone which is one of the most popular cellular phones of all time.
The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 are the most affordable Nokia-branded Android smartphones, both of these phones come with HD (1280 x 720) displays, though the Nokia 3’s panel is somewhat smaller, as the phone sports a 5-inch display, while the Nokia 5 comes with a 5.2-inch panel. The Nokia 3 is fueled by the MediaTek MT6737 64-bit quad-core SoC, while the Nokia 5 is fueled by the Snapdragon 430 64-bit octa-core processor. Both of these phones sport 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, while the Nokia 3 offers a smaller battery pack. The Nokia 3 sports a 2,630mAh non-removable battery, while the Nokia 5 comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery pack. Both phones ship with Android Nougat, though different versions of it, and both will get updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future.
