Google Pixel 2 Is Now Available In India, Starts At $944

The Google Pixel 2 had been available for pre-order in India for about a week, and the phone is now available for purchase. This handset was announced back-to-back with its sibling, the Google Pixel 2 XL, and it can now be purchased from Flipkart in India. For those of you who do not know, Flipkart is one of the largest retailers in India, and the phone’s 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 61,000 ($944), while its 128GB storage model costs Rs. 70,000 ($1,084), just in case you’re interested.

Flipkart is actually an exclusive online seller for the smaller Pixel, though the device will be available through a number of offline stores as well, including Chrome, Poorvika, Reliance Digital, Sangeetha Mobiles and Vijay Sales, amongst others. Having said that, the Google Pixel 2 XL is also on its way to India, though it will not be available for another couple of weeks, as it is launching on November 15 in the country. It’s worth noting that the Pixel 2 XL will be priced at Rs. 73,000 ($1,130) and Rs. 82,000 ($1,269), respectively for the 64GB and 128GB storage variant of the device. The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL actually share a lot of similarities, they come with the exact same cameras, while they’re both fueled by the same processor, the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC. The two phones also look almost identical, the Pixel 2 has considerably larger bezels, and it’s smaller, but other than that, the same materials have been used in both phones, and the design language is quite similar.

The Pixel 2 sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, just like its sibling, while the phone also has two front-firing speakers. The Pixel 2 features a 5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, while it comes with a 2,700mAh non-removable battery, which supports fast charging. Android 8.0 Oreo comes out of the box on the Pixel 2, we’re looking at stock Android here, of course. It’s worth noting that you’ll be able to install Android 8.1 Oreo as soon as you fire up the device, as the update is already rolling out to both Pixel 2 handsets.
