Microsoft Edge Preview For Android Gets Dark Theme And More

Microsoft has rolled out a new update to the preview version of its Edge browser for Android that introduces a few nifty features. With the latest update, Microsoft Edge Preview now has a dark theme that will allow you to customize the mobile browser while using it in low light conditions to protect your eyes. Edge for Android also received a new tool that will let you sync your passwords across a wide variety of devices so that you can still access your account regardless of the handset you use for mobile browsing.

The update is now available to download from the Google Play Store. Keep in mind, though, that this update comes to an unreleased version of the Edge browser, so you might encounter several bugs and app crashes as the preview edition remains unstable. Microsoft has not commented yet on when it exactly plans to roll out a stable version of the browser to the Android platform at the very least, but the mobile browser is expected to hit the stable channel sometime in 2018. While the new dark theme update to Microsoft Edge Preview touches more on the appearance of the browser, the password syncing feature provides a more useful tool to save time when filling in your credentials in multiple devices.

The Microsoft Edge Preview for Android was released last October to the Google Play Store to compete with major rivals including Google Chrome and Firefox, among others. Some of the major existing features of the app include the InPrivate mode, which lets you keep your browsing history, temporary internet files, and cookies secret by preventing it from being saved on your PC, unlike in regular browsing mode. It also has Voice Search for surfing the web using your voice and Hub View for managing your reading list, history and books in a single place. If you haven’t used the app previously, you will be asked to sign in to your Microsoft account the first time you open the browser, though this is optional. Nonetheless, the software giant highly recommends that you sign in to your account to get a more personalized experience with the mobile browser on your Android phone.
