Razer had managed to surprise everyone when the company released a teaser for its upcoming smartphone a while back. Well, Razer has introduced its smartphone today, and it’s actually a high-end smartphone. It’s worth noting that the Razer Phone is a boxy smartphone, which sports rather thin side bezels, though its bezels above and below the display are rather thin: In any case, this phone does not belong in the ‘bezel-less’ category of smartphones, which is a trend that we’re used to seeing today. Having said that, the Razer Phone does have a lot to offer in the specs department, which is not exactly surprising considering that this phone is made for gaming, according to the company. In any case, let’s take a closer look at its specs.
The Razer Phone is fueled by one of the most powerful mobile processors out there, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core processor. The Adreno 540 GPU is also a part of this chipset, and is in charge of graphics rendering. Razer notes that the Razer Phone disperses heat better than other smartphones, and this processor should benefit from that. This smartphone features a 5.72-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IGZO LCD Ultramotion display (120Hz), which is manufactured by Sharp, and it comes with a wide color gamut. On top of this display, the company has included Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection against scratches. The Razer Phone packs in 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and the company has included a 4,000mAh non-removable battery in this phone. The Razer Phone comes with 64GB of native storage, which you can expand with a microSD card (up to 256GB). Speaking of which, Quick Charge 4+ is enabled here, which is Qualcomm’s latest quick charging method which should be able to charge this phone from 0 to 50 percent in about 15 minutes. This smartphone sports a dual 12-megapixel setup on the back, its main snapper comes with an f/1.75 aperture, while the secondary camera packs in a telephoto lens for 2x lossless zoom (f/2.6 aperture). An 8-megapixel snapper (f/2.0 aperture) is included on the front side of the device, in case you were wondering.
Now, in terms of audio, this phone offers Dolby Atmos support, and has been tuned by Dolby, actually. Razer has packed in a 24-bit DAC inside of the Razer phone, and the device has also been certified by THX, while the phone comes with a set of front-facing speakers. NFC is a part of this offering, as is Bluetooth 4.2, while you’re also getting Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. Android 7.1.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Razer Phone, while 4G LTE connectivity is also included here, of course, the Razer phone supports both 4G TD-LTE (B38/39/40/41) and 4G FDD-LTE (B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/25/26/28/29/30/66). The Razer Phone measures 158.5 x 77.7 x 8mm, while it weighs 197 grams.
