Swiftkey has gotten a Quick Paste option in the most recent beta update for the application. Since this is part of the beta that means that it’s likely on the horizon for a release as part of the regular non-beta app, but since it just hit the beta it may still be a little while before it appears for everyone. The nice thing is that it’s relatively easy to become a member of the beta and get access to all the new features when Swiftkey launches them for testing to the beta community.
The Quick Paste option doesn’t have much to it but it seems like it could be pretty useful in its simplicity. What it does is take any copied text and it places that text into the predictions bar for easy access. This way if you’re not ready to use it immediately you will still be able to insert that block of text faster than typing it out or re-copying it again to paste it in. There are a few different scenarios for where this might come in handy but the end result is all the same – users will be able to tap the prediction bar to paste their copied text quick and effortlessly which will allow them to copy the text they want, go back to typing, and paste in the content when they’re ready.
In addition to the Quick Paste feature there are a few other changes in this version of the beta to look out for as well. The first is a location sharing option. This is only supported in the U.S. at the moment so global users of Swiftkey outside of this country won’t be able to use it, but those that are will have a simple and quick way to share they’re location through Swiftkey directly with the contacts that they’re communicating with regardless of the app they’re using. Swiftkey has added a couple of new layouts with this beta called Naratgul and VEGA, and there are seven new languages that are now supported too, which include Chamorro, Lisu, Palauan, Piedmontese, Sicilian, Scots, and Jul’hoan. As is normal with just about any update to an application, there are also some performance improvements and bug fixes that have been applied, so things should feel smoother alongside the handful of new features.
