The internal components of the Razer Phone, as well as the steps needed to open the device, are detailed in a new video from JerryRigEverything. Since there are no visible screws, the adhesive underneath the plastic grills that protect the front-facing loudspeakers should be softened in order to access the internals of the handset. After removing the plastic grills, users should remove the four screws found at the top and six screws located at the bottom of the handset. The manufacturer used a combination of Philips and T5 screws at both ends. Clasps, rather than the usual adhesives, are used to that attach the display to the rest of the handset, making it easier for the display to be removed. The ribbon cables that connect the battery and the display to the smartphone’s motherboard were also detached.
One of the interesting internal components of the Razer Phone is the heat pipe that is found directly underneath the display. While it is not the first time that a heat pipe is built into the device, it is considerably larger than similar parts found in other smartphones. Near the top of the heat pipe, thermal paste is used to improve the heat conductivity of the copper pipe with the chipset. The heat pipe then extends to the lower half of the display, and it is covered by another sheet of copper. The two additional ribbon cables which connect the motherboard to the fingerprint scanner and the volume rocker needs to be removed before detaching the 4000mAh battery.
The charging port and the vibrator are located at the bottom of the smartphone, although the vibrator is considerably smaller than what is found in its competitors. Meanwhile, the speaker cones of both the bottom and top loudspeaker are made from rubber, preventing the audio quality from being distorted even if moisture enters the speaker. The two loudspeakers are also of the same size, which should result in similar audio quality from both parts. Going to the top of the handset, the dual rear camera setup can be removed by detaching the ribbon cables that connect the sensors to the motherboard and extracting two additional screws.
