$99 Blink Video Doorbell Is Official And Coming To CES 2018

Consumer electronics maker Blink announced its latest offering in the form of the Blink Video Doorbell earlier this week, revealing an inexpensive addition to one’s smart home setup that was devised to be as straightforward to use as possible. The gadget is meant to operate in conjunction with the Blink Sync Module which all of the company’s existing customers already own and rely on it as the center of their Internet-enabled households. Owners of the Internet of Things hub will hence be able to purchase the Blink Video Doorbell as a standalone product for $99, whereas the firm will also be bundling the device with the Blink Sync Module and attach a $129 price tag to the package starting early next year.

No exact availability dates have yet been provided by Blink but more details on the matter should follow in a few weeks as the company will be showcasing its latest solution at the next iteration of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is starting on January 9th. The pricing of the battery-powered Blink Doorbell Chime accompanying the Internet-enabled doorbell will also be announced at CES 2018, the original equipment manufacturer confirmed. The newly announced camera supports HD (720p) video alerts prompted by its motion detection systems, in addition to being able to live stream video with two-way audio, hence featuring intercom capabilities. The device was also designed to be effective overnight due to its infrared functionalities and has been weatherproofed to be reliable in all sorts of environments.

One of the main selling points of the Blink Video Doorbell is its intuitiveness which also encompasses its installation setup as users will be able to get started with the gadget without using any wiring should they choose to do so, with the camera having an average lifespan of two years while being powered by a pair of standard AA lithium batteries. Blink is hoping this accessibility will attract a wide demographic to its product whose wire-free nature allows it to be installed virtually anywhere. Another selling point of the package is its pricing, as the initial buy-in cost is all that Blink is asking from consumers and isn’t selling the camera as part of a service with recurring monthly fees while still providing its customers with free cloud storage for saving feeds recorded by their cameras.
